Cross-Referencing for Survival Communities

The idea is based in other such cross- applications, like cross-loading or cross-comparisons. In this particular case the purpose is for the survival community to distribute everybody else’s reference and technical manual resources.

They idea was droped when I was visiting with a survivalist friend who asked me if his handheld radio could connect with his GMRS radios...
Of course it would, but we had to search the net for the GMRS band actual frequencies.
Latter on, at home, I downloaded his GMRS radio’s manual and there it was. A table with the sought for Frequencies. Since then, this particular manual is archived in my computer, along with so many others.

So assuming that a survival/preparedness community is formed it would be prudent for everyone to have access in references and documentation on all member’s equipment. Especially since standardization is not easy to achieve and as chance has it someone will have to use someone else’s device in a hurry.

Thus such a documentation library should include –but not limited to:
- Radio Manuals
- Radio Programming software
- Programming cables
- Car Service Manuals
- Firearm Manuals
- Small Engines Servicing Manuals
- Smartphone cabling

Assembling such a cross-referencing database is not difficult. It requires each member to supplying copies of his devices’ manuals and a short web search for the electronic versions of them.

But of equal importance to Collection is Distribution.
While a central library is always good to establish, it is easy to make the collection available for copying and archiving into everyone’s computer, and a smaller version of it   is equally easy to load into the plethora of Smartphones available today.
Also a larger selection of this cross-referenced material can also be uploaded in an internet file-hosting service, not only as a backup method but to also make the information available to travelling members.

But now we have already gone a bit too far into the making of a survival/preparedness library, and this is a object for the future.
